MRS. MINNIE KAPPELMAN PASSED AWAY LAST THURSDAY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT.
      FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY
A cloud of sorrow passed over this community last Friday morning when it became known that Mrs. Minnie Kappelman had been called to her eternal home. Mrs. Kappelman had been in poor health for nearly a year past and the past few months had failed rapidly, though all that medical skill could do; was done to bring her back to health. She was one of the pioneer residents of this part of the county; having settled here with her husband and family on their homestead some twenty-five or thirty years ago, and had been prominent in church work and other community activities during all these years. Her husband preceded her in death four years ago.
Minnie Brill was born in Brandenburg, Germany, August 15, 1854; and died at her home in Bonesteel, S. D. January 23, 1925, at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 8 days.
She came to America in the year 1872.
On January 13, 1874, she was united in marriage to August Kappelman in the state of Illinois. To this union twelve children were born, three of them dying in infancy and one other at the age of sixteen. Some four years ago, her husband, August Kappelman also passed away.
      The surviving children are:
      Mrs. O. L. Flisram, of Bonesteel, S. D.,
Mrs. Wesley Simpson, of Geddes, S. D.,
Mrs. Peter Buck, of Fremont, Neb.,
Mrs. Earl Burke, of St. Charles, S. D.,
Mrs. Clyde Beach, of Los Angeles, Cal.,
      Fred, of Chance, S. D.,
      August, of Burke, S. D.,
      Charles, of Naper, Neb.
All were present at the funeral except Fred and Mrs. Beach.
Along with thirty-three grand children and four great grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters remain to mourn her death.
Mrs. Kappelman was a woman of sterling character and of fine Christian principles. She was a worthy and much loved member of the local Baptist church, of which she was an ardent supporter to the day of her death.
During the last months of her stay with us, Mrs. Kappelman was a great sufferer, but in the midst of it all she was always patient and resigned, believing that all things work together for good to them that love God. Her departure was in the nature of a glorious triumph.
She was a kind, devoted mother, a devoted wife and a true friend. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church, on Sunday afternoon. January 25, at 2 o'clock; the pastor, A. A. Oestreich, officiating, assisted by Rev. E. W. Savage, pastor of the local Congregational church.
The decorations and floral offerings were most beautiful and the attendance was large.
She was laid to rest in the Bonesteel Cemetery beside her husband and three children.
