True Fredric Nihard, 78, of Harris died on June 11, 1999 at Cambridge Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1920 in Verdi, the son of WIll and Hazel (Minor) Nihart.
In 1942, True enlisted in the US Navy and he served aboard the USS Memphis, the flagship of the Mediterranean, during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
On April 23, 1947 True married Agnes Wiering in Tyler. They moved to Harris in 1961.
True is survived by his wife, by sons: Darrel of Rush City, Steven (Cindy) of North Branch, Stewart (Dorothy) of Grand Rapids, Joe (friend Annie Soriano) of Edina; daughters: Suzanne (Kevin) Borgert of St Joseph, Trudy (Chuck) Petersen and Elaine (Mike) Robinson of Rush City, Cindy (Guy) Miller of Coon Rapids, Mary Ann (Mike) Jeurgens of Fridley, Jane (Brian) Johnson of Rush City; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Marlin (Ruth) of Huron, SD; sisters: Irene Hind of Pipestone, Louse Mortland of Arco, Hazel Prinsen of Pipestone, Lucille (John) Strom of Woodstock, Marilyn (LeRoy) Wittrock of Pipestone; sister-in-law Pat Nihart of Spring Lake Park; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
True was preceded in death by brothers Earl and Stacy.
Father Ralph Huar officiated at a memorial mass on June 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. Music was by Phyllis Soderlund. Casket bearers were grandchildren: Brent and Andrea Nihart, Craig and Wade Nihart, Melanie and Kali Borgert, Justin, Corey and Holly Nihart, Lance and Kristin Petersen, Sam and Lee Robinson, Cora, Rachel and Michael Nihart.
