Helen Riedlinger, 95, formerly of Hazelton, ND, died January 14, 2009 at the Linton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, January 17, 2009 at United Methodist Church, Linton, ND with the Reverend Cori Waisanen officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Hazelton Cemetery, Hazelton. Visitation will be on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 12:00pm to 9:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton and will continue at the church on Saturday for 1 hour. Helen (Schatz) Riedlinger was born November 20, 1913 at rural Medina, the daughter of Christ and Rosina (Reister) Schatz. She grew up in the Medina area. Helen married Jacob Riedlinger on October 2, 1934 at Medina. Most of their married life was spent farming SW of Hazelton. They moved into Hazelton in October of 1977. Jacob passed away in October of 1987. Helen remained in her home until March of 2005. She entered the Strasburg Care Center in August of 2006 and remained there until her death. Helen did babysitting for a few years. She also loved to crochet, embroider and do many other crafts. Her children and grandchildren were blessed to receive gifts of her fine handworks. Helen and Jacob had five children: James (Marjorie) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeanette (Anton) Tschosik of Linton, ND, Gerald (Kathleen) of Edgeley, ND, Galen (Betty) of Bismarck, ND and Verlyn (Martha) of Albertville, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob; two sons: James and Gerald; one grand-daughter, Loretta; one great grandson, Timothy; five sisters and two brothers. Helen had nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
