Helen R. Yeakle, 73, of 13277 Buchanan Trail West, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Peters Township, Franklin County, Pa.
Born June 20, 1924, near Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Ruth Smith Rock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Yeakle, in 1985.
She retired from Corning Glass Works, after 25 years.
She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove, Pa.
She was a member of AARP; and a volunteer for Mercersburg Chapter of Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by one daughter, Ginger L. Brindle of Chambersburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Ruth Nelson; one stepson, R. Eugene Yeakle of St. Thomas, Pa.; one brother, Carl Rock of Mercersburg; one sister, Grace Keefer of Little Cove, Pa; one stepsister, Beulah Bivens of Mercersburg; two stepbrothers, Harry Burkholder of Mercersburg and Leroy Burkholder of Reading, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Yeakle; and
her stepfather, Walter Burkholder.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Henry K. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
