J. WILLIAM RASTEDE, 70, of 804 N. Orange St., Morrison, died Aug. 23, 1992 at Morrison Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyteran Church, Morrison, preceded by a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service in the church fellowship room, with the Rev. Alvin Hook, minister of visitation, officiating. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Chapel-Bosma Renkes Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established to Morrison Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
Mr. Rastede was born July 12, 1922 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Fred B. and Genevieve L. (Overholser) Rastede. He graduated from Morrison High School, attended Cornell College and graduated from the University of Illinois. He married Virginia Shaffer Aug. 2, 1952, in Monmouth. He lived most of his life in Morrison where he was a civil engineer with the Illinois Department of Transportation until retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a registered professional engineer, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Dunlap Lodge #321 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Moline, the Tebala Temple of Rockford, and a lifetime member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife of Morrison; one daughter, Ruth King of Rockford; one son, Dr. Donald Rastede of Sterling; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ned (Marjorie) Donnell of California. -- Contributed by Melva L.
