Son of Leo & Gertrude (Kuehnel) Mark.
He attended District #22 school and graduated from Platte Center High School in 1940.
Jerome married Margaret Janssen on September 5, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church Grand Prairie. He lived his entire life on the "Mark" family home and engaged in farming until his retirement. The homestead has been in the Mark family since 1888.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in teaching Sunday School, Sunday School superintendent, and served as a church councilman. He was also active on Synod Committees and the Lutheran Men in Missions. Jerome worked with the National Farmers Organization for many years. He also served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 117 of Platte Center for 11 years. He was a member of the Gideon's.
Jerome was very active in the activities and fund raisers that took place for the community of Platte Center. He worked on the formation of District #84 school as well as the planning committee and the Foundation Board for Central Community College. He also served on the ESU board for a number of years. Jerome enjoyed his fishing trips to Gavins Point Dam and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
