Passed away April 1, 2011 in Ritzville, WA. She was born November 9, 1927 to William and Amelia (Koeplin) Nissen. She attended school in Ritzville and received many perfect attendance and penmanship awards throughout her school years. In 1944 she received a certificate for completing a stenography/shorthand course which was nationally accredited. Arlene graduated with honors from Ritzville high school in 1945. Arlene and Lewis Lobe were married for 61 years until Lewis's death in 2009. During her life, Arlene was employed by REC/Big Bend Electric, the Adams County Assessor's office, and both Arlene and Lewis worked for the Trading Company. In the early 1970's they moved to Hillsboro, Oregon for a short time, eventually returning to Ritzville, where they have resided ever since. Due to health issues, Arlene was eventually moved to the Life Care facility, where she resided until her death. While in Life Care she enjoyed listening to singing groups, particularly the Good News Boys, who were very important to her. In one of Lewis' last entries added to his hand written autobiography he talked about his visits with Arlene at the Life Care Center and how he loved to be able to bring her home to visit. "She loved that very much. I went to see her three times a week. She loved that a lot. She was a very good cook and house keeper. I loved her. So long, Arlene." She is survived by her brother Robert (Vera) Nissen of Spokane, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Lobe, sister Frances and parents, William and Amelia Nissen. Visitation will be at Danekas Funeral Home-Ritzville on Wednesday April 6, 2011 from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Thursday April 7, 2011 at Emanuel Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM. Vault Interment will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ritzville. Memorials are suggested to: Emanuel Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund 206 S Division, Ritzville, WA 99169 or Life Care Center Memorial Fund 506 S Jackson, Ritzville, WA 99169.
