Clarence E. Riedel, 76, Hays, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993, at St. John's of Hays nursing home.
Mr. Riedel was born March 22, 1917, at Victoria.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for Gamble's for 35 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, the Knights of Columbus Council 1325, the Bishop Cunningham Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the 40 and 8 Club, all of Hays.
Survivors include his wife, Marietta of the home; three sons, Larry of South Lake, Texas, Dennis of Hays and David of El Toro, Calif.; a daughter, Sister Mary Riedel of Hays; a brother, Arthur of Hays; a sister, Melinda Higby of Phillipsburg; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, the Rev. Ben Colucci officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites by the Hays American Legion. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard at 7 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel. A Sisters of St. Agnes prayer service will be at 4 p.m. today, followed by a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 7 p.m., a vigil at 7:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. John's of Hays. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 20th and Pine, Hays, 67601.
