      Edward Lee Leiker, 77, passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, with his family at his side. He was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Hays, to Aegedius and Roberta (Weigel) Leiker.
      On Aug. 27, 1960, he married Rosie Schmidtberger at St. Fedilis Church in Victoria. She survives. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who lived for faith, family and country.
      He proudly served our country, retiring as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1996. He was a faithful servant to St. Teresa’s parish for over 40 years. A member of the Knights of Columbus Council #612, and Fr. David H. Cushing 4th Degree Assembly, The Forever Jayhawks Kansas Air Guard retired group, and thoroughly enjoyed his morning and afternoon coffee time with friends.
      Other survivors include: children, Jayne Leiker of McPherson, Daniel Leiker and wife Tammy of Urbana, Ohio, Steven Leiker and wife Gina of Lincoln, Neb., Amy Spitler and husband Rick of Hutchinson, Julie Moore and husband Brian of Hutchinson; siblings, Doris French of Kingman, Ariz., Barbara Tinkler of San Antonio, Texas, Roberta Zeman of WaKeeney, Tony Leiker of Hays, Mary Tuttle of Park; and a loving grandfather to 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his son, Craig Leiker; his parents; and brother, Michael Leiker.
      Family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. and Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Dinner for family and friends will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at St. Teresa’s gymnasium and Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in the church, with the Father Michael J. Maybrier and Father Stuart Smeltzer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military graveside honors being conducted by the 184th ARG Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
