Elmer J. Kauffman, 70, Keenesburg, died Thursday, April 15, at Gray Care Alternative Care Facility in Keenesburg.
He was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Johnstown to George A. and Anna Elizabeth (Greenwald) Kauffman.
On Jan. 28, 1945, he married Bertha Kauffman in Berthoud. She died Oct 3, 1958. He then married Virginia L Meng on Aug. 13, 1959, in Hudson.
Mr. Kauffman graduated from high school in Berthoud and farmed north of Berthoud until he moved to Hudson in 1952. In 1954, he moved to Mead, and then in 1956 moved to Prospect Valley, where he continue farming and ranching until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of Zoar Congregational Church in Prospect Valley. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge in Brighton, the Prime Rib Club in Hudson, a former board member of Fort Lupton Beet Growers Association, and a former board member of Southeast Weld County Soil Conservation District.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia L. of Keenesburg; three sons, Mark A. of Keenesburg, Vern A. of Orange, Calif., and Lee E. of Bignona, Senegal, Africa; two stepdaughters Debra Hardesty of Denver and Sabra Fluckey of Thornton; five sisters, Martha Greenwald of Denver, Marie Winters of Tacoma, Wash., Emma Schaffer of Grand Junction, Esther Gatseos of Denver and Hilda Berchtold of Redmond, Ore.; a brother, Raymond of Keenesburg; and 11 grandchildren. Two brothers, Harold and Joseph, are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Congregational Church in Loveland. Interment will be in Loveland Burial Park.
Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, Loveland, is in charge of arrangements.
