Funeral services were held Sunday, February 9 at 2:30 pm at Wessington Springs First Methodist Church for Frederick J Wahl, long-time resident of Wessington Springs, who farmed in Media, was grade school custodian and custodian at Memorial hospital who died Feb 6((1958) at Memorial hospital, following a stroke Jan. 29. Burial was made in Prospect Hill cemeteryFrederick J Wahl, was born near Odessa, Russia, October 10, 1883, the son of John and Margaret Wahl. He suffered a stroke January 29, 1958, and died February 6th at Memorial hospital in Wessington Springs. He emigrated with his family to the United States at the age of five and settled near Sutton, in Clay county, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Grace Traudt, December 28, 1908 in Stockham, Nebr. They moved to Wessington Springs in the spring of 1910 and farmed in Media township until his retirement from farming in 1947. He served as custodian at Memorial hospital for seven years. Due to poor health he retired from his duties there in 1955. He served in the Media township school board for many years. (obit)
