Faye Calhoun has no grave marker. She is buried to the north of her husband. Of the three markers and space across the top of this picture, her grave is the space on the right of center.
Faye Arlene (Keeney) Calhoun, 77, of Boise, Idaho went home with Jesus on October 25, 2010, surrounded by her family and perfectly content with knowing it was her time.
A viewing will be held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2010 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, with a morning viewing prior to the service on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, with burial immediately following the service.
Faye was born to William LaFayette Keeney and Leona Jewel Wry in Missouri on May 13, 1933. In August 1944, when Faye was 11 years old her family moved to Weiser, Idaho, where Faye finished school. Faye was #3 in the family of 6 children. She has two older sisters Edith and Loretta, then Faye, her brother Billy and then her two little sisters Marlena and Mary.
Coming from a large family, Faye had five children of her own; Gordon, Steve, Gill, Eva and Suzy.
Some of Faye's hobbies were painting, singing, the daily crossword, jigsaw puzzles, writing poetry, reading, and bowling and her favorites included gardening, reading her bible and spending time with her family.
Faye was a member of the Body of Christ simply because she recognized a need of a Savior as a little girl and accepted Jesus into her heart knowing He was the only way to God and Heaven.
Mom loved to sing as her family were "The Keeney Gospel Singers" and they sang on KWEI out of Weiser, Idaho. In Boise, Mom was a part of the "Sweet Adeline's" as a lead singer for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Cal; two sisters, Edith and Loretta; and her brother, Billy.
Faye is survived by her children, Gordon (Cyndy) Wood, of Fountain, Colorado, Steven Wood, of Spokane Valley, Washington, Gill (Julie) King, of Wallowa, Oregon, Eva (Doug) Carter of Boise, Idaho, Suzy Hoeft, of Boise; and her grandkids, Tajha, Helen Faye, Oscar, Isaac, Jenni, Melanie, Jill, Patrick, Piper, Eric, Matthew, Courtney, Camas, Justin, Marie, Lance and Casey. She also leaves behind 25 great-grandkids, (at least), and her two sisters; Marlena Blain, of Boise, and Mary McCollum, of Reno, Nevada.
The family asked that donations be made in Faye's name to Silver Sage Baptist Church, 5858 S. Maple Grove Road, Boise, ID, 83709.
"We love you Mom and we know we will see you again one day." Love from all your "favorite" kids (ha, ha Gill).
