      Notes for JOHANNES ROTHROCK:
Johannes Rothrock immigrated to America in 1736 Ship "Harle" proceeded in 1733 by sons, Phillip Jacob and Johannes. The second arrival of Rothrocks at Philadelphia is recorded in Vol. II, page 154-161, "Pennsylvania German Pioneers", published by the Pennsylvania German Society, a three volume compilation of "Ship Lists".
      He had 14 children

Johannes was born in Leiselheim, Near Worms, and immigrated in 1736 on the HARTE, arriving in Philadelphia on September 1. His two oldest sons Philip Jacob and John , had immigrated in 1733, on the ship Mary. The ships passengers do not include his wife Anna Margaretha, leading to believe that she died before he immigrated. There is evidence that she was alive in 1730, however. Phillip, Jacob, John and Johann Georg all retained the Rothrock spelling. Descendants of the younger sons, Ludwig and Andrew (Andreas) are named Roderick, Rodruck, or Rodrick.Johns name my have been Johann Jr. Wife ?? Anna Margaretha may have been his daughter who came over on the Harle with him???Anna Margaretha is listed on the Harle as 19 years old.[Genealogy.com, LLC WFT Vol. 51, Ed. 1, Tree #2205, Date of Import: Mar 31, 2001]
Johannes(1) Rothrock immigrated to the America in 1736 with his wife and younger children on the ship Harle. He had sent Phillip Jacob and Johannes, Jr. ahead in 1733 on the ship Mary
In German Rothrock means "red-coat", Roth being an obsolete form of rot-red. The "h" was silent, and the name was pronounced in Palatine German similar to the English phonetic sound "ROAD-TRUCK", or ROAD-TRICK". The older sons of Johannes kept the Rothrock spelling except John who used Rodrock; Ludwig used Roderick and Andrew used Rotruck,
The complete story may be found in RODERICK GENEALOGY, 2nd Edition, 1999, by David Paul Roderick, Carlsbad, California. The book covers the descendants of Ludwig Roderick and Andrew Rotruck.

"One hundred fifty-one foreigners from the Palatinate and other places, who, with their families, making in all three hundred eighty=eighty persons, were imported here iin the ship Harle, Ralph Harle, master, from Rotterdam, but last from Cowes, as by clearance thence, were this day qualified as usual ...Johannes Rothrock...
Absence of the name of Johannes wife indicates she had died, either on the voyage, as many dis, or before. The younger boys were almost certainly on board the Harle but would not have been registered because of their age (Johann George 15, Ludwig 13).
A census record from the city of Worms: which can be dated to the year 1730 contains the following notice: Johannes Rothrock, born here, 46 years old and Margaretha his wife, 40 years old, have six children;: Phillip Jakob 17 years, Johannes 14 years, Anna Margaretha 12 years, Johann Georg 9 years, Ludwig 7 years, Charitas 3 years.
