119494 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=58215028 A terrible accident in which two lives were lost, occurred Wednesday. Clarence Newman was digging a cesspool for K. Leffelbein. He dug too close to the old cesspool, the wall broke through and he was overcome with sewer gas. Mrs. Leffelbein went to his rescue and was overcome. When Miss Leffelbein came home at noon, she discovered the bodies in the pool, although everything possible was done to restore consciousness, such efforts were unavailing. The grief stricken families have the sincere sympathy of the entire community. (Funeral details followed.) The Palmer Journal, September 2, 1920, page 1 Anna Margurite Leffelbein (nee Kruse) was born September 9, 1871 at Okarriville, Ill., and was established in His Kingdom through holy baptism in infancy. Here she also repeated her confirmation vows. In the spring of 1898 she came to Nebraska, settling on a farm near Prairie Creek. On the 17th of July 1898 she was united in holy wedlock to Carl Leffelbein. This union lasted over 22 years and was blessed with one daughter. Mrs. Leffelbein passed away very suddenly Wednesday, September 1, aged 48 years, 11 months and 22 days. Her sudden demise is mourned by her sorely stricken husband, Carl Leffelbein, her only daughter, Loretta, her aged mother, Bernhardine Kruse, four brothers, Herman, Wm., Fred and John Kruse, two sisters, Mrs. Bruno Burkhardt, and Martha Kruse, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wm. and Herman Leffelbein, Mrs. Marie Bader and Mrs. Emma Mann of Iowa, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held Saturday at 10:00 o'clock and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. She was a woman of strong Christian character, patient, loving and self sacrificing. May she rest in peace. - Contributed. The Palmer Journal, September 9, 1920, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney | Kruse, Anna Margurite (I140222)
