Lillian Remboldt was born Aug. 3, 1914, at Gackle, the daughter of Henry and Christina (Hehn) Remboldt. She grew up and attended school in Gackle and graduated from Gackle High School in 1933. She worked in her fathers grocery business in Gackle. She married Edward Mueller on March 19, 1939, at Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, with the Rev. G.W. Rutsch officiating. She continued working at the grocery business until they retired in 1974. He died May 2006. She moved to the Gackle Care Center in October 2006 and then to the Wishek Home for the Aged in June 2008. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, and a charter member of the Baptist Gleaners. She enjoyed cooking and talking on the phone. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Al) Sheet; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and two stepgreat-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son-in-law, Helmuth Remmick, a brother, Ruben (Budge); and a sister, Helen. Grosz was born August 2, 1925, in Fargo, ND, son of Godfrey and Eva (Stewart) Grosz. In 1943, John graduated from Fargo Central High School. He started college at North Dakota State University in the summer of 1943. John joined the U.S. Army later in 1943 and was discharged in 1946. He returned to NDSU and attended from 1946 to 1948. John enrolled at University of North Dakota School of Law in 1948, graduating in 1951. While enrolled in law school, he was a member of SAE Fraternity. John passed the ND Bar Exam and began practicing law in 1951. In 1951, John married Ella Patterson. They were married for 34 years until her death in 1985. For over 50 years, John practiced law at his independent law firm. He also performed in many area big band jazz groups including: Fargo Theater All Star Band, Elks Band, Legion Band, Red River Valley Veterans Concert Band, and various El Zagal Shrine Bands. John enjoyed hunting, dancing, crossword puzzles, and spending time at the lakes. He was an active member of Kiwanis, serving as Secretary/Treasurer for five years. Evelyn Gronland was his special friend and partner until her death in 2006. He most recently enjoyed the company of Renola Ellig playing bridge and attending other social activities. John is survived by his son, David E. (Bonnie) Grosz, Fargo, ND; daughter, Jennifer G. (John) Smith, Louisville, KY; sister, Elizabeth Smith, Rocky Ford, CO; niece, Susan Cory; nephew, Robert Smith and three grandchildren, Jessica Grosz, Michael Grosz, and Christopher Smith. Matilda Hehn was born on May 5, 1914, near Gackle, N.D., the daughter of Carl Hehn and Karolina (Haas) Remboldt. She moved with her parents in 1916 to Jordon, Mont. They later moved back to the Gackle area. She attended elementary school and helped on the family farm. She married Arthur J. Remboldt on Oct. 29, 1932, at the country Seventh-day Adventist Church, northeast of Gackle. They lived on a farm northeast of Gackle, where they farmed until 1980. They retired and moved to Jamestown in 1985. He died April 23, 1989. She entered Rock of Ages, Jamestown, in 2001. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. She enjoyed making quilts. She is survived by a brother, Albert (Violet) Hehn, Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Remboldt, Fargo, N.D.; two sisters-in-law, Estella Hehn, Jamestown, and Phyllis Hehn, Minot, N.D.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by two sons, Russell Sr. and Delmar "Ron"; her parents; a grandson, Brian Remboldt; and a great-great-grand-daughter, Autumn Remboldt.
