113041 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=11419360 Memorial is under review, due to conflicting information between two outside researchers and their sources. One source places Billy and other Marcum family members in Marcum Cemetery, but a 1970 source then goes on to say that the Marcum burials themselves were moved as a part of the construction of Ft. Gibson Reservoir and the government-sponsored re-interment project. Further research is ongoing, in the meanwhile, be aware of the controversy. Plot number corresponds to the map in the canvass and survey from the American Indian Institute; "Our People And Where They Rest," (OPAWTR) James W. Tyner, Maxine Tyner and Alice Tyner Timmons, American Indian Institute, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. 1969-1985 (Library of Congress No. QE99-C5-T97) Volume 8, pp. 59-60 Their information is given here as a historical reference and is presented "as is." Their book, like many such cemetery listing compilations, may contain errors. As with any genealogical information, this is merely a "source" and should be considered as such. It falls upon the end-user to verify the accuracy. Most of the volumes and maps are available for online viewing. North Side was the old segregated cemetery, and the south side is the re-internment section for relocations from the Ft. Gibson Reservoir Area. A "Marcum Cemetery" was one of the cemeteries that was re-located during the building of the Ft. Gibson Reservoir. Keep in mind that this survey was done circa 1970, and based on a visual assessment. Tornadoes, vandalism and other such factors may well have intervened and the marker may not be found today. (bio by: Wes T.) | Gales, Harold Mathew (I147401)
