Direct lineal descent for membership in DAR. Her place of residence during the Revolution was Guilford, NC. This unusual given name is Biblical, Job 42:14. Book on Moreheads lists differernt dob (Chap XII (the Norman family) lists 1690; another chapter on Morehead family lists 1733). From: Rockingham Post- Dispatch (June 22 & July 6, 1949): She 'was reported to have been a great singer. According to legend she rode on horseback, with a baby in her arms & on its death buried it beside the road, on hearing a son was .. wounded ..'
In 1765 James Turner and wife Kerenhappuck (sic.) sold their dwelling and former residence with 100 acres of land to William Lightfoot. This was described as the land Isaac Norman gave James Turner, 1733, on his marriage to Isaac's daughter Kerenhappuck. According to their descendants, they moved to Halifax County, Va. Kerenhappuck Norman Turner was a heroine of the Revolutionary War. A monument erected in her honor stands in Guilford Battlefield Park, Guilford, North Carolina. The History of the Morehead Family tells of her organizing the hospital corps after the battle of Guilford Courthouse and of how she found her grandson on Guilford battlefield and nursed him back to health in the New Garden Quaker Meeting House. In her old age, she is said to have spent much time with her daughter Sarah on Little River in Richmond County, N.C. She rode horseback and hunted with her grandsons. It was on one of these hunts that she was said to have been thrown off and her neck broken.

"The known lineage of the Virginia branch of the Taliaferro family begins with the Emigrant, Robert Taliaferro, who came to Virginia in 1645.  He was a man of prominence; he and his sons holding high state and church offices in the Colony.  He owned large tracts of land including one of 6,500 acres, which he patented jointly with Major Lawrence Smith. 
œthe correspondence of Mr. Wythe and Mr. Jefferson, published din the last issue of this magazine, accepts the Italian origin of this family (Taliaferro Family), and Mr. Wythe supposes the Italian emigrant to be Lawrence Taliaferro, who came to Scotland about 1500. But there is ground for even an earlier origin. Talifer or Telefer was the name of a Norma Knight, who came over with William the Conqueror in 1060.

Charles Grymes and Henry Dedman jointly patented land on the south side of the Rappahannock, in Lancaster, York, and Gloucester Counties, 1645, 1650, and other years; and it is believed that Henry Dedman died in Gloucester County, where, because of the destruction of the records, nothing can be learned concerning his family.
