Gottlieb F. Aman, the son of Fred and Eva (Hoffman) Aman was born in Eureka, South Dakota, February 12, 1889. He attended schools in Eureka and Redfield, and spent several years in the teaching profession. Gottlieb and Marie Lehr, born December 25, 1893, were married November 12, 1911. After their marriage they moved to Lehr where he was employed in the lumber yard. After a few years he bought a butcher shop, and later purchased a farm east of Lehr where he farmed until his death in August 1955. Mr. Aman, served on the school board for some time. Marie Aman grew up in the Lehr vicinity. Her parents were Andrew Lehr and Christina Maier. Her father, Andrew Lehr founded the city of Lehr which was named for him. Gottlieb and Marie Aman were the parents of eleven children, Leslie preceded them in death at the age of one year; Luella Herren and Myrtie Arduser, Monticello, Iowa; Vivian Fiechtner, Salt Lake City, Utah; Gladys Vogel, San Diego, California; Norma Meier, Alta Loma, California; Laura Lepp, Wishek, North Dakota; Harry, White Fish, Montana; Ray, Big Sandy, Montana; Clayton, Grand Forks, North Dakota and Eugene, Lehr, North Dakota. Mr. Aman passed away in August 23, 1955 and Mrs. Aman on April 4, 1972. Source: Lehr Diamond Jubilee, 1898-1973 and obituaries.

Brothers Andreas Lehr (1837-1923) and Johann Lehr (1841-1880) were born to Ludwig and Barbara (Hof) Lehr in Kassel, Russia. Sisters Carolina Wahl (1855-1939) and Eva Katherina Wahl (1843 - 1930) were born to Jacob and Eva Elizabeth (Mehlhaff) Wahl in Kassel, Russia. Johann Lehr and Eva Wahl were married on November 28, 1861 in Russia. Andreas Lehr and Carolina Wahl were married in Russia on December 15, 1877. Andreas Lehr first married Rosina Brandt on January 28, 1858. Rosina (Brandt) Lehr died in Russia in October, 1877.
The Lehr brothers and families arrived in New York on October 12, 1880 after departing Hamburg, Germany on 29 September 1880 aboard the SS Herder. Johann and Eva arrived with five children; Barbara, Margareta, Johann, Caroline and Catherine. Andreas and Carolina arrived with seven children; Friedrich, Johann, Heinrich, Christine, Albina, Jacob and Catherine. Both families traveled directly to South Dakota. The 1900 US census shows Andreas and his second wife Carolina (Wahl) Lehr living in Hanson County, South Dakota with ten children, the youngest eight were born in South Dakota. Andreas and Carolina later lived and died in Alpena in Jerauld County, South Dakota. Johann Lehr died upon arrival in Yankton, South Dakota in November 1880. Eva Katherina (Wahl) Lehr married Adam Magstadt in 1884. The 1900 US census shows Adam and Eva Katherina (Wahl) Lehr Magstadt living in Tripp, Hutchinson County, South Dakota with three Magstadt children.

She is listed as the lst child of Johann Brandt and Margaretha Mettler with 4 sisters and 2 brothers, all born in Kassel, S. Russia.
From the Reformed Church Records on the St. Petersburg microfilm #1884082/2 page 114 rec.20, she is recorded as born 29 Feb 1840 and died 11 Oct 1877, at age 37y 7m 13 d. She had 10 children, 3 of whom predeceased her, Catharina died 13 Nov 1865 age 5 y: Christina died 21 Nov 1865 age 3 y 9 m Carolina died 23 Nov 1875, age 3 m. 17 d: Katharina died a year after her mother Rosina, aged 11y 4m 26d. Rosina's husband Andrew Lehr re-married abt.
Jul or Aug 1878 to 22 yr old Karolina Wahl & they had 6 sons and 6 daughters,and came to America 12 Oct 1880 with their firstborn, Jacob.as well Andrew & Rosina's 5 single children, the eldest Andrew was married & came to Dakotas in 1878.

It appears that his second wife Margaret (his 2nd wife) is 15 years younger than Ludwig. There were 6 children recorded with his lst wife Barbara Hof who died on Nov 17 1845. He married Margaretha Ketterling on 24 Jan 1846 & had 15 children. He died 25 Oct 1885 at age 76y 1m recorded in St.Petersburg film 1883181 #36 d. Emigrated from Neiderhochstadt, Landau, Pfalz (Germany) as a child with his family in 1809, and became a colonist of Kassel,South Russia & died there.
