    The son of EDWARD & JUDITH (HOLLAND) DEAVOUR PENN, he was baptized in All Hallows Parish, Anne Arundel County. Around 1730, he married DINAH ACTON in All Hallows Parish.
    In his will written February 8, 1777, he commits his Soul unto "Almighty God my Savior and Redeemer in whom by the merits of Jesus Christ I trust and believe..." He bequeathed as follows:
    ...to my wife, Dinah Penn, one-third of my whole estate during her life.
    ...to my son, Charles Penn, one shilling sterling and no more.
    ...to my son, Edward, one shilling sterling and no more.
    ...to my daughter, Jane Murphey, a cow & calf and my sorrel horse and no more.
    ...to my son, Joseph Penn, a feather bed & furniture.
    ...to my daughter, Mary Penn, one Negro girl named Airy and a cow and calf.
    ...to my son, Benjamin Penn, five thousand weight of tobacco likewise a cow and calf.
    ...to my son Shadrack Penn, my dwelling plantation to him and his heirs forever.
    ...to my daughter, Sarah Penn, a Negro girl named Rachel and a feather bed & furniture.
    He appointed his two sons, Benjamin Penn & Shadrack Penn my whole and sole executors after my wife receives her third out of the estate, then the rest of the estate to be equally divided between Mary, Benjamin, Shadrack, Sarah & Joseph Penn. It was acknowledged by Sam Hobbs, Thomas Rigby, & Jeremiah Duvall. It was subscribed by oath by Samuel Hobbs & Jeremiah Duvall on April 24, 1777. The widow renounced the legacies bequeathed to her and claimed what the law allows widows in cases where there are no children.

    The son of WILLIAM & LUCY (MARKHAM) PENN, he married JUDITH HOLLAND DEAVOUR on February 11, 1703 in All Hallows Parish, Anne Arundel, Maryland.
    According to Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s, he immigrated to Maryland from England in 1700.
    March 8 1705/6 Edward Penn of Anne Arundel county, Planter bought of Wm. Roper of the same county, planter, for a consideration of L520 sterling 100 acres of land know as "Penn's Purchase", being a portion of "Roper Gray", originally granted to the said Wm. Roper. The 100 acres later proved to be 106 acres. No wife of Wm. Roper waived dower rights.
    The will of Edward Penn, dated June 5, 1741,
    ...to my son Benjamin Penn a tract of land called Planters Pleasure of 100 acres in Anne Arundel Co.
    ...to my son Joseph Penn 157 acres of land called Duvalls Delight in Anne Arundel Co.
    ...to my daughter Jane Penn 520 pounds sterling, a feather bed & furniture, a cow, a calf, sow and piggs
    ...all of my cattle , horses, "hoggs" be equally divided between my two sons Joseph & John Penn and my daughter Jane Penn
    ...the remainer to be equally divided among my five children.
    ...I appoint my four sons Edward, Benjamin, Joseph & John executors of this my last will and testament. He signed his mark.
    His will was proven August 12, 1741.
